Getting ready for the show alongside the fabulous Style Melbourne editor Sarah Willcocks.
It was a night of high glamour for the Stonnington 2012 Spring Fashion Runway at the Malvern Town Hall last Thursday night.
The night was a showcase for more that 30 fashion designers and retailers from Stonnington’s famed shopping strips; Chapel Street, High Street and Toorak Road.
Colour was the big hit on the night and was seen in many bright hues. I feel this season anything goes in the world of colour, no rules, throw it together and have fun with your style. Prints also featured heavily but this season they are in softer shades so the pattern becomes the centre piece of the design.
Trelise Cooper was the stand-out with her floaty cocktail dresses in bold pink and an extra pop of sequin pink. The cocktail dress is the must-have piece of the season and looks to have crossed over into more daytime chic. I feel they’ve become more versatile and can easily be dressed down for lunch or add some key accessories and you’re ready for night time glamour.
For the guys, I loved the jumpers from Hemden. They appeared on the catwalk in fluro bright colours with them sitting nicely across the shoulders and tied at the front. It will be a fun pop of colour and I hope to see this style around the city this summer.
Overall it was a great night showcasing many beautiful styles in a gorgeous venue with fabulous people!
